Sewing Better with Gadgets

I’m not a big one for gadgets, but I am a big fan of chain piecing! I’ve used several different types of scissors to snip the threads holding the pieces together, but Lynn is a fan of this little gizmo:

‘This is a tabletop thingy with a small razor blade embedded in the dip at the top of the gizmo. You slide the chained fabric pieces so the thread goes into the “dip” and gets cut by the razor blade.  It’s a lot easier to see in this video.

I like that I don’t have to hold all the fabric I’m trying to snip in one hand, and the gizmo adds a third hand to help out.  This isn’t a paid post, just a suggestion if you need a little help with clipping threads while chain piecing!

  1. I agree! This is a great tool for those of us who experience repetitive stress pain, such as clipping or even using scissors. I’ve learned to be gentle about cutting with it so it doesn’t pull threads.
