I’ve liked the look of Christa Watson’s pattern, Color Weave, since she launched it. Once she announced she was running a quilt along for it, I took the plunge and started pulling scraps to make a scrappy version of this jelly roll quilt. This video shows the process of refining those scraps for use in the pattern, and how I evaluated the options for each of the color columns to work within the color group and against the background and constant fabric.
Once you get the idea of my process, you can skip ahead to the 23 minute mark to see my nearly-complete top (the blocks are done and on the design wall) and how the final product turned out.
If you want to quilt along at home with your own scraps, you can get Christa’s pattern in digital PDF or print, and stay up to date on the Color Weave quilt along on her blog! I can’t wait to see what you make.
