Mixing Ruler Work and Microstippling in a Quilt

We are rolling into the home stretch with our guild quilt show entries, and part of the excitement is finishing an 8 year old UFO.  I couldn’t finish it 8 years ago because I felt like I lacked the quilting skills necessary to finish it the way I wanted – with some crosshatching done with ruler work – with some microstippling to accent the straight lines.

Because I was excited about the process and at a place where I’m happy to share the work, I recorded a two part video on the two techniques; catch the basics of crosshatching with a quilting ruler around applique shapes and the subsequent micro stippling to complete the background quilting design in the videos above!

Stay tuned for pictures of the finished quilt when it’s eventually done (in the next 3 weeks according to the deadline to turn it in to the show)!
