Color Wheel Quilts

On our most recent Quilting Book Club, we talked a bit about color theory, including color wheels and the variety of solid fabrics available on the market. One of the great ways to explore color theory yourself is to make a color wheel quilt. Whether you are making a true color wheel quilt, which can be done with either applique or curved piecing, here’s some eye candy for inspiration.

The Stitched in Color Color Wheel Quilt Kit is a fabulous pattern that mentors you through the color selection process, and I love the scrappiness in one of the sample she’s got posted.

If applique and embroidery is more your style, this (tiny) color wheel quilt may be more your speed. Made as part of a 12 x 12″ challenge, Kirsten used only embroider, felt circles, and applique for this fun quilt.
